Youth Ministry

United Nations/Washington D.C. Seminar Tour

March 11-19, 2017

For youth high school sophomores through college freshmen
This event takes place every other year

You are invited to spend three, full days, in active, energizing workshops at United Methodist Seminars with other Oklahoma Conference youth.

Study topic: Education and Poverty
Exploring the education gap in America and what the church can do.

"The wide disparities among public schools exist largely because schools reflect the affluence and/or the political power of the communities in which they are found. Within virtually every state, there are school districts that lavish on their students three or four times the amount of money spent on other children in the same state."
statement from the Public Education and the Church — What we Believe, www.umc.org

(There will be preparation work required to attend this seminar.)

In addition we will spend several days in both New York City and Washington D.C. Included in the tour, will be sight-seeing around both cities.
