B1 Fasting

The Oklahoma Conference has been chosen as one of the jurisdictional conference sites (for 2009) to pilot the "B1 fasting" program that is sponsored by General Board of Global Ministries.

If you have participated in the 30-hour famine before, this program is similar and is the response of the United Methodist Church to the 30-hour famine. This resource may be used by youth in their Sunday school classes, bible study groups or other youth ministry groups.

If you are interest contact Rev. Diana Northcutt: dnorthcutt@okumc.org.

We would like to keep a record of our churches that participate. More resources (t-shirts and curriculum may be purchased from the Cokesbury Web site.

YSF Announces Logo Design Contest

We are excited to announce a logo design contest for the Youth Service Fund.

The winning logo will replace the recognizable dove that has been a part of YSF since 1992.

The current logo has served us well but it is time to update the look and have something which

speaks to the current generation of youth. Since Youth Service Fund is a ministry that is completely by,

with, and for youth, we want to give them an opportunity to design the new logo.

What does the winner get? We'll provide a trip to Nashville with lodging at the Embassy Suites.

Upon arrival, the winner will go to the GBOD offices to meet with marketing professionals to finalize the design.

The evening will include a fun dinner in the midtown Nashville area. Details here

Contest begins May 1, 2009 with an entry deadline of August 1, 2009

YSF Logo Contest

  • Open to all UM Youth, Grades 6-12
  • Go to YSF web site to find out what YSF is all about
  • Design a logo for the Youth Service Fund
  • Email your design to ssmith@gbod.org
  • Send your design by August 1, 2009
  • Winner will be announced on August 10, 2009
