Capital campaign overview
Why expansion is needed

The Oklahoma United Methodist Camps and Retreat Ministries announces “Lighting the way, Warming the heart,” a capital fund campaign for all three campgrounds.

We will construct two new lodges and a cafeteria/welcome center.

• The new lodges will provide living, training, and spiritual growth spaces for adults, families, youth, college students, and church leaders, as well as for local church retreats. The lodges will be built at Camp Egan, near Tahlequah, and at Cross Point Camp, near Madill.

• A cafeteria/welcome center will be constructed at Canyon Camp, near Hinton. Located adjacent to Hardt Lodge, it will provide a dining center for the occupants of the lodge, meeting rooms, and a “first-stop” welcome center for all who journey to the canyon.

• These new facilities will expand and enhance the ability of our camps to serve a year-round clientele, and will free space at the cabin areas to expand our youth and children’s camping ministries.

The use of our facilities by the wider community will be greatly enhanced by modern lodges at the two sites where these accommodations are lacking.

Currently, more than 40 groups yearly
– adults, families, and local church groups –
are turned away due to lack of space.
