Mission Opportunities
B1 Fasting
The Oklahoma Conference has been chosen as one of the jurisdictional conference sites to pilot the "B1 fasting" program that is sponsored by General Board of Global Ministries.
If you have participated in the 30-hour famine before, this program is similar and is the response of the United Methodist Church to the 30-hour famine. This resource may be used by youth in their Sunday school classes, bible study groups or other youth ministry groups.
We would like to keep a record of our churches that participate. More resources (t-shirts and curriculum may be purchased from the Cokesbury Web site.

Terrebonne Area Restoration Project
All four Louisiana Disaster Recovery Stations are scheduled to close May 2010; unfortunately, there is still work to be done. Though most of the work UMCOR set out to do has been completed, many homes are still in need of repair; and as storms continue to batter the coastline year after year, the need for volunteers will remain. With so many recovery stations closing, TARP has set out to create a long-term, sustainable ministry that will continue to accommodate volunteers in the years to come.
TARP invites youth groups and their adult chaperones to be a part of the restoration! Teams are needed to repair housing units that will be used to accommodate future volunteers. Drywall, flooring, plumbing, painting -- we'll do it all! But remember, no experience necessary.
