Early Bird Rate Extended through March 15

Youth Workers' Gathering in 2012 will be held in Oklahoma City at Church of the Servant. The gathering is open to all. We look forward to sharing with you and/or youth workers from your congregation at this gathering.

The theme works in multiple ways: sustaining youth workers, sustaining youth and youth ministry, moving toward practices in youth ministry that nurture and sustain vocation.

By the end of the gathering youth workers would have an understanding of:

  • VoCARE practices
  • Sustainable youth ministry practices: Practices for a healthy youth ministry that lasts.
  • Sustainable vocational practices: Practices that will help nurture calling among youth.
  • Guidance for those now starting youth ministry.
  • The start of a design to fit your context.
  • Program ideas.

Leaders

Bishop Robert E Hayes, Episcopal Leader of the Oklahoma Area of The United Methodist Church.

Rev Mark DeVries, national author and speaker, veteran youth minister, of Youth Ministry Architects and author of "Sustainable Youth Ministry" will be the keynote speaker.

Rev Diana Northcutt, Oklahoma Annual Conference Coordinator of Youth Ministries.

Program

One of the exciting features this year is the involvement of the VocationCARE team of the Fund for Theological Education. The team from VocationCARE, is a program that helps "congregations [to] work together to help identify and support future leaders by taking action to 'notice, name and nurture' young members in their calling"

They will lead us in practices that nurture and sustain, and participants will leave with the beginning of a design toward this end.

Cost

The early bird fee is $50 through February 15.
The regular fee is $60 after February 15.

7 - 8 p.m. Worship with Bishop Hayes preaching
8 - 9 p.m. Nuts and Bolts Breakouts

Saturday

8.30 - 9 a.m.
9 - 10 a.m. Keynote
10.30 - Noon De Vries session
Noon -2.30 p.m. Lunch
2.30 -3 p.m. Closing
