Journey Camp is a new discipleship camp for students entering 6th-8th grades in the fall of 2012.
The camp will engage students on a spiritual journey, and is designed to encourage students as they make
the next step along a discipleship journey in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
This may be making a profession of faith or learning how to live out faith daily through examining two primary questions.
1.) Who do you believe Jesus is? 2.) How does my belief affect my life's habits, priorities and choices?
The idea for a new junior high discipleship camp has been brewing for a few years.
Just as new churches can attract new disciples, a new camp can attract students to continue a journey of discipleship.
Many churches have been attending a wonderful camp to assist the discipleship of young teens.
Building upon that experience, Journey expands the ministry of that camp.
This camp is birthed out of another camping experience that is a great model for youth camping.
The hope is to expand that ministry to other churches to help students grow in their faith in Christ.
Journey will not follow the traditional Monday - Friday model, but will experiment with a non-traditional Friday - Tuesday model as a means of reaching students.
Some may wonder why we have waited so long to start this camp.
The answer is that now seems to be the appointed time for us to begin what God has been planning!
JEM Camp To Create New Worship Area
"Wesley Rulz" is the theme of JEM Camp this year and will center on the
"Three Simple Rules" of John Wesley.
To help the campers learn rule #2, "Do Good," we will be creating a new worship center for future campers at Canyon Camp.
We will utilize the area across the little bridge in front of the east wall of the canyon along the field between the camp entrance and the dining hall.
We will clean out brush, create a worship center area and build some benches.
The center will then be dedicated to the glory of God for use by camp leaders and campers.
This will be made possible by a grant from Oklahoma Youth Service Funds.
Time to register for your favorite camp.
