Confirmation Retreat
For 6th, 7th, and 8th grade youth

Many churches, due to a variety of reasons, are not able to provide a confirmation experience for their children and youth. This new Conference-wide confirmation retreat is a response to that need. If your church has a confirmation program, the retreat is not to replace your church’s confirmation, but to be an enhancement.

Churches may use the retreat as a “kick-off” or a “wrap-up” for their confirmation classes. In addition, it will provide an opportunity for their youth to enjoy the fellowship and interaction with other United Methodist young people who are exploring their faith and call to commitment.

Topics for the retreat include:

• The Church through history
• Understanding worship and the Christian year|
• United Methodist Doctrine and Polity (What does it mean to be United Methodist?)

Schedule

The retreat begins on Friday evening at 6 p.m., with check-in, and ends on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Cost

$35 per person including adult sponsors (lodging, insurance, snacks and meals)

Sponsors

The supervision ratio shall be: 1 adult to no more than 5 youth, and must be gender specific. For example: If a church sends 3 boys and 2 girls, one man and one woman sponsor is required to attend with them. ALL adult sponsors must have a current Oklahoma Conference Leader’s Application and background check on file in the Conference office. On this page you will find the Leader Application Form 05-08. Churches must submit the names of their adult sponsors to the youth office by Feb. 15, 2008.
