DERT -- Assistance for recent flood areas (July 2008)
The call for our help in the central U.S. has begun! Now is the time to begin looking at how God would have you serve those who have been devastated by these far reaching floods. This is going to be one of the largest and most widespread requests for assistance we have ever received. Iowa and Missouri have requested assistance from our conference. These states need volunteers for mucking out, clean-up of debris, etc. We will be getting into the rebuilding later. Volunteers are needed now and housing is available in churches as well as with other agencies. Any one, any skill level can help, but we would prefer 14-years of age or older. Trained team leaders are a plus. The houses are safe and the work is muck out - tear out. No special badging or credentialing is needed. E-mail or call me if you have any questions about responding to this plea for disaster response assistance (“The R-Teams”).
