Facebook: Another Place for Christians to Express Faith |

Courtney Aldrich In the online world of Facebook, “religious views” are listed as just another characteristic on a person’s profile, along with their name, school, sex, birthday and hometown.
David Rempfer, a junior at the University of Kentucky, believes being a Christian calls for more than just typing the word into a Facebook profile. Rempfer says living a Christian lifestyle that reflects discipleship should include how students portray themselves on online social networks.

The mission agency of The United Methodist Church
is resuming a program that places young adults in mission
settings in the United States for 10 weeks of summer service and
education. A dozen people ages 18 to 25 will be selected for
2008 as the program is reintroduced after nearly a decade of
inactivity. The sponsor is the mission personnel program area of
the denomination's Board of Global Ministries. Orientation
begins in New York City on June 1. Service gets under way June 8
and ends Aug. 2, followed by a week of debriefing. Participants
must have completed at least one year of higher education. An
online application form is at

applications is Feb. 1.

age 12-30, are invited to send a 10-minute videotape of a
speech
which addresses the issues and concerns confronted by young people.

need additional funds for the semester beginning in Sept 2007 can
apply for a United Methodist Student loan. “We are accepting
applications for loans for the fall semester right
now,” said James Harding, assistant executive director for loans
administration and operations for the General Board of Higher
Education and Ministry.
