"After returning from New Day Camp last year, Christopher was a different boy, The first thing he told me upon returning was that he learned that he didn’t have to be afraid anymore. He finally understood that it wasn’t his fault that his parents were incarcerated. He said that a junior counselor at the camp had shared with him that she had lived through a similar experience and took the time to pray with him. When he started back to school, he did so with his head held high."

Mrs. Ellis,

Christopher’s grandmother.

New Day Camps

Cross Point Camp, Lake Texoma near Kingston, Oklahoma

Each summer Oklahoma children of prisoners are invited to participate in New Day Camp, a week-long camp held at Cross Point Camp, where they are able to be just kids.

Two week-long opportunities are offered:

New Day Camp was created in 1995 to address the need for affirming kids who have a parent in prison. Many blame themselves for their parents incarceration, or feel they will follow in their parent’s footsteps. Some are uprooted suddenly from their home and placed in foster care or with relatives, leaving them with a sense of loss. They feel isolated; and that they are the only ones with a parent in prison. New Day Camp lets these children know that they are not alone; they have worth; and God loves them no matter what.

Funding for New Day Camp comes through scholarships from local churches and donations from individuals like you, Sunday school classes and a wide range of other groups. With this generous support New Day camp is possible.
