He was an Associate Minister at First United Methodist Church in Muskogee; and Pastor at St. James United Methodist Church in Coffeyville Kansas.
Reverend Basler also practiced law from 1979-1990, first as an Associate at Blake & Uhlig Law Firm in Kansas City Kansas, and then had a private practice in Cherryvale Kansas.
As well as being the Director of Criminal Justice and Mercy Ministries, Revered Basler is a member of the Oklahoma County Community Corrections Planning Council.
